(0 vote) Impact Of Movies On Children by Victor Epand. One of the problems movies have is that they are a popular medium watched by all. The message incorporated in a film is something, which is spread worldwide. Heroes like Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, Leonardo Di Caprio, Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzeneggar, Bruce Willis, Clint Eastwood, and Jackie Chan are loved and adored by all and sundry. Walt Disney's 27th animated film "Oliver and Company" is about a homeless kitten named Oliver joins a gang of dogs to survive on the 1980s New York City streets. Released in 1988, the movie is inspired by Charles Dickens' novel Oliver Twist, which has been adapted many other times for the screen. In this version, Oliver is a cat and Fagin's gang is made up of dogs, one of which is Dodger.
After Dumbo , Bambi , One Hundred and One Dalmatians and The Rescuers (the first three are uploaded on GSN2), this is Disney's fifth animated feature to take place in the present day of its release, using New York City as its setting.
Featuring the voice talents of:
Joey Lawrence - Oliver Billy Joel (one of my favorite pop singers) - Dodger Cheech Marian (of Cheech and Cong) - Tito Bette Midler - Georgette Dom DeLuise (god rest his soul) - Fagin
With songs performed by Huey Lewis (one of his fewest solo songs), Billy Joel, Ruth Pointer, and Bette Midler.
My brother has seen Oliver and Company in theaters when it was first released in 1988. But it was never re-released again in 1996, along with a video release later in the year. It was re-released on VHS in 2002. Released on DVD in 2002 and 2009. I have the 1996 VHS and the 2002 DVD. This film is taken from the 1996 VHS.
